I visited a pharmacy in Middleton today to discuss with staff about the launch of Pharmacy First, which is already making an impact giving patients more choice and freeing up GP appointments in Milton Keynes. Patients in MK are now able to get prescription-only treatment for seven common conditions at most of their local community pharmacies, without the need for a GP appointment or prescription. These are: sinusitis, sore throat, earache, infected insect bite, impetigo, shingles, and uncomplicated UTI. The launch of the new Pharmacy First service, backed by £645 million, will offer patients more choice in how and where they access care by making even better use of our highly trained community pharmacists. This will be a real boost for MK as we continue to heavily invest in our local NHS.
